Year 2
Welcome to our Year 2 class page!
Class Teacher - Mrs Bradshaw
Teaching Assistant - Mrs Moloney
In Year 2, we will have so much fun with our learning! This year, we will build on all our wonderful learning from Year 1 and expand our knowledge with new and inspiring topics such as The Great Fire of London, coding, Rwanda and Neil Armstrong. Year 2 is such an exciting year as the children are already settled into the routines of 'big' school and can enjoy their school days without any worries! We begin each day with a lovely, calming story chosen by our children from the library as well as some positive affirmations! I have linked one of the videos I use below so you can have a go at home!
As well as our day-to-day lessons, we have so many fantastic experiences to look forward to, such as library trips, visits from drama groups, the nativity and so much more!
We can't wait to share our Year 2 journey with you all as we tackle each new challenge along the way. Please click on the links below for all your child's learning.

Meeting our Year 5 Buddies
We had a lovely time with them as they shared a book with us and we even read to them too!
Religious Education
To Know You More Clearly
In To Know You More Clearly, we enjoyed learning about Noah's Ark and God's Promise.
Branch one - Creation and Covenant
Year 2 finished their final piece using Psalm139 and artwork by Eva Crawford as inspiration. They worked so hard to learn parts of the scripture and their artwork is just beautiful!
Music
We enjoyed learning C, G and A on the glockenspiels.
Reading
Year 2 loved getting our new books from St Helens Library Service, each day we enjoy reading for pleasure.
Some of our children shared their phonics learning with their parents.
Humanities -Neil Armstrong
We created a timeline of Neil Armstrong's life.
PE
Having a great time with our warm up song in dance!
We have also been working on our key skills.
PAThS
As part of our daily practice, we celebrate all the wonderful things about each other with our PAThS Pupil of the Day!
We give our POTD compliments - this could be something they're good at, something we like about their appearance or something about their character.
Our POTD is encouraged to give their self a compliment and this is taken home for a compliment to be given at home too. #PAThS #PSHE
Soaring to new heights
What does it mean to be a Holy Spirit pupil? We explored what this meant to us and came up with some fantastic words!
Artists as Collectors
In Art, we are exploring nature so we collected leaves that we could draw in our sketchbooks.
Prayer and Liturgy
We had Prayer and Liturgy with our Year 5 buddies and loved sharing our go forth to shine our light the brightest!
Science
We investigated how materials change shape.
P.S.H.E
We have been learning how to stay safe at home. We understand that household products can be harmful if not used correctly. We also learnt about people who keep us safe.
We've been talking PANTS! We know we have the right to say 'No!' and that a safe adult (that we trust) will always listen to us if something makes us feel upset or worried.
Protected Characteristics
As part of our Protected Characteristics learning in PSHE, we have shared, Welcome to our world, which shows how children live all around the world in a beautifully illustrated book! Children all over the world are very different, but they also have much in common. We learnt all about what people in other countries eat, wear and play, and how they speak and celebrate. This delightful book teaches us that despite different languages, customs and traditions, it really is a small world, after all. Genesis 1:1 tells us 'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth' and we respect that. #PSHE #ProtectedCharacteristics #BeingMeInMyWorld
We shared ‘The lost homework’ in our Protected Characteristics lesson. We explored how the main character Sonny overcame challenges. Luke 6:31 says ‘Do to others as you would have them do to you’ - we enjoy celebrating differences and remaining friends.
We shared ‘Riley can be anything’ in our Protected Characteristics lesson. Philippians 4:13 says, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ - we explored how to achieve realistic goals & thought about our aspirations #PSHE #DreamsAndGoals
